My name is Britney also known as “Brit” and I am the CEO and Owner of Britx. Originally based in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, I started creating my own hair products out of necessity due to the lack of effective options for my hair texture. At the age of 12, I had to manage my own hair without any knowledge of natural hair care. With no income, so I used my lunch money to buy natural hair products.
I tried various hair care brands and products, but none improved the health or growth of my hair. Instead, my hair became dry, damaged, brittle, with split ends, falling out and becoming uneven. This struggle deeply affected my mental health, especially with family members commenting on my hair.
While store bought products initially seemed beneficial, they ultimately left my hair dry and unhealthy. My cousin Kay suggested I try making my own hair care products, leading me to research all natural, plant-based ingredients. I discovered the harmful chemicals in the brands I had been using and gradually stopped using them.
Kay and I decided to create our first plant-based product, a Hibiscus Hair Oil. Excited, we continued using our hair oil. My passion for making hair products drove me to find a solution, and at 14, I began formulating my own products with safe, natural ingredients.
After much trial and error, I succeeded in creating products that revitalized my hair, resulting in noticeable health and growth improvements. My family and friends were amazed at the transformation.
Now, at 21, I sell all natural hair and skin products, helping others in the black community who face similar struggles to love and embrace their hair with our products.
